Victoria Park Dog Off Leash Area(Frankston)

Victoria Park is a roughly two hectare stretch of open parkland off Nolan Street that Frankston City runs as a designated free-roam off-leash area. There is no enclosure here and no fancy equipment; the draw is the space and the natural shade from the park's vegetation, which suits dogs with solid recall who want room to stretch out properly.

The dog setup

Dogs can be off-lead within the designated free-roam area under effective voice control. The boundaries are conventional: leads go back on within 10 metres of the playground at the Nolan Street end, in adjacent sporting areas and on designated footways, and waste gets picked up. Because there is no fenced section or double-gate entry, this is a park you plan for rather than stumble into, and a dog that bolts toward the road is a dog that stays on lead here.

Getting there and parking

Reach the park via Frankston-Flinders Road, turning into Nolan Street, with parking at both the Williams Street and Nolan Street entrances. Both entrances are wheelchair accessible. If you are coming from the station side of town, it is roughly a 15 to 20 minute walk from Frankston Station, which makes a car the easier choice for most dog trips.

When to go

The park tends to be busiest on Sunday afternoons and Monday and Friday mornings, and quietest on Sunday and Tuesday evenings and through Thursday, which is worth knowing if you are working with a reactive dog. After rain the ground can get muddy, so pack a towel.
