Set across the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Cockatoo, Alma Treloar Reserve Dog Off Leash Area delivers a solid, fenced space where dogs can stretch their legs over rolling hill country. The elevated terrain means you and your dog will both get a decent workout.
Fencing and safety. The off-leash zone is fully fenced with secure double-gate airlock entries on both the north and south sides, giving you reliable containment for dogs that like to test boundaries. Keep in mind the wider Alma Treloar Reserve is multi-use, so off-leash privileges apply strictly within the fenced enclosure. Dogs must remain on-leash everywhere else in the reserve and under effective voice control at all times inside the park.
Space and agility. This is a large, hilly, grassy block that naturally tires out active dogs. The reserve has installed agility equipment, including weave poles and ramps, so you can run structured training sessions between free play. Pepsi would spend hours on those ramps if we let her.
Amenities. A drinking fountain with an attached dog bowl keeps water sorted, and there are seats and shelters near both entrances for owners who want to settle in. Concrete paths improve access across the park in wet weather, though the grass still gets muddy after sustained rain in the ranges.
Access and parking. You will find a sealed car park at the nearby community complex, and bus route 695 runs along Pakenham Road if you are coming by public transport. The park sits at 79 Pakenham Road and is open 24 hours, managed by Cardinia Shire Council.
When to visit. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quietest windows. Expect crowds on Saturday mornings when the Cockatoo Country Market sets up next door at 77 Pakenham Road, and on sunny afternoons when the reserve draws families to the playground, skate park and BMX track.

Alma Treloar Reserve is a straightforward, well-equipped dog park that earns its keep through solid fencing, decent terrain and practical facilities. Load the dog, pack a towel for the mud and make a morning of it.
