Federation Drive Reserve Fenced Dog Park

The Federation Drive Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits on the Logan River in Bethania, a fully fenced off-leash area split into separate sections for large and small dogs. Open around the clock, it is one of the more flexible fenced parks in the Logan area for an early or late run.

The dog setup

The well-fenced sections give big and small dogs their own space, with a double-gate entry where you should drop the leash and loose harnesses before heading in. A drinking water station serves the dogs, and there is some natural tree cover, but shaded seating is limited, so pack water and shade on hot days. Bins are provided though bringing your own bags as backup is smart.

Max: check the gate latches before anyone goes off lead, and give the ground a look after wet weather. Soft mud near the river edge can catch out a dog used to firmer parks.

The rules

Off-leash applies only within the fenced sections, and Logan City Council expects owners to stay with their dog and keep effective control throughout. Reliable recall is the entry requirement, bitches on heat and declared dangerous dogs are not permitted, and any dog that gets stressed or scrappy should come out immediately. Clean up with the bins provided.

Getting there and parking

The reserve is on Federation Drive in Bethania, just off the main roads through town, with plentiful, easy parking near the entrance. Bethania railway station on the Brisbane to Gold Coast line is a short trip away. The wider reserve adds BBQ areas, a playground, a skate park and riverbank space for fishing and picnics if you are making a morning of it.

Worth knowing

The ground turns muddy quickly after rain, so a dry spell is the better bet for clean paws and car seats. Weekday mornings are quietest; Saturday and Sunday mornings draw the biggest crowds, so an early lap is the way to get the fenced sections to yourselves.

Close by with the dogs

Across the river, the Albert River Fenced Dog Park at Eagleby is the nearest alternate fenced run, and Woodlands District Park Fenced Dog Park at Waterford covers the other side. If you want a combined large and small setup instead, James Fitzgerald Park at Waterford West runs that layout.
