Federation Drive Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits on the Logan River in Bethania, a fully fenced off-leash area split into separate sections for large and small dogs. It is open 24 hours, which makes it one of the more flexible fenced parks in the Logan area for an early or late run.

The rules. Dogs can run off-leash only within the fenced sections, and Logan City Council expects owners to keep effective control at all times. Bring your own waste bags even though bins are provided, and remove aggressive dogs from the enclosure immediately if a scuffle starts.

What's there. A drinking water station is on site for dogs, with some natural tree cover but only limited shaded seating, so pack water and shade cloth on hot days. The wider reserve adds BBQ areas, a playground and a skate park, plus riverbank space for fishing and picnics if you want to make a morning of it. Parking near the entrance is plentiful and easy.

Getting there. The reserve is on Federation Drive, Bethania QLD 4212, just off the main roads through town and a short trip from Bethania railway station for anyone coming up the Brisbane to Gold Coast line.

Watch-outs. The ground turns muddy quickly after rain, so a dry spell is the better bet if you want to keep paws and car seats clean.

check the gate latches before you let anyone off lead, and give the ground a look after wet weather. Soft mud near the river edge can catch out a dog that's used to firmer parks.

Nearby with the dogs. Distillery Road Market in Eagleby, about ten minutes away, welcomes dogs in its outdoor entertainment area and Market Hall, a solid option for lunch after a run around.

Weekday mornings are the quietest time to visit. Saturday and Sunday mornings draw the biggest crowds, so aim for an early lap if you want the fenced sections to yourself.
