Woodlands District Park Fenced Dog Park

The fenced dog park at Woodlands District Park sits off Jarvis Road in Waterford, at the southern end of a larger council precinct that packs in sports courts, a skate park and playgrounds. The key detail for dog owners: the off-lead area is properly fenced and split into separate large and small dog enclosures, so a gentle retriever and a shitzu do not have to share airspace.

The rules

Logan City Council still expects voice control even inside the fence. Use the double-gated entry properly and close it securely behind you, bag waste immediately and use the bins provided, remove any dog showing aggression straight away, and have your dog vaccinated and registered. The setup

Inside both enclosures: agility equipment for dogs who like a job, grassed running space, and sheltered seating so owners are not standing in the sun. Shade comes from a scattering of trees plus the shelters. A dog water tap handles hydration, though bring your own waste bags as a backup, because bin and bag maintenance varies between visits.

Max: the small dog yard is the reason I bring nervous new rescues here. They can watch the big dogs through the fence for ten minutes and decide on their own schedule.

Getting there

Parking is directly off Jarvis Road, Waterford. The wider park has public toilets, BBQs and picnic shelters, but note they sit outside the fenced dog zone, so someone needs to hold the leash while the other family member takes turns.

When to go

Weekday mornings are the quiet window at suburban parks this size, and weekend late afternoons bring the regular crowd. Open around the clock, though after dark the lighting is park-standard rather than floodlit.
