Rockford Park

Rockford Park is a fully fenced off-leash dog park on Coldstream Way in Holmview, tucked into a residential street between Beenleigh and Loganlea. It is a small, well-used local space with grassed sections, shade trees and benches, and it has built a reputation as a friendly park where the dogs and owners tend to know each other by name.

The dog setup

The enclosure has secure gates and open grass inside, so dogs run off-leash once they are through, but the lead stays on walking in and out. Logan City Council rules apply: handlers are limited to two dogs at a time, dogs that are aggressive or become a nuisance to other users are not permitted, owners need to stay inside the off-leash area with their dogs, and waste gets picked up. There are water points, though it is worth bringing your own bowl as backup, and bins are provided but bags can run short, so carry your own.

Max: keep the gate area clear when you arrive or leave. A cluster of excited dogs right at the entry is the easiest place for a scuffle to start.

The vibe

Sunday mornings are the busiest stretch, with weekday evenings much quieter and more relaxed. Shade comes from established trees, and it is limited once the sun is high, so a mid-morning or early-afternoon visit is the comfortable option through a Queensland summer. Because the park is fenced and compact, it suits dogs that like close-quarters play more than long chases.

Getting there and parking

The park is on Coldstream Way, Holmview, reached easily from the Logan Motorway or Pacific Motorway via local roads. On-street parking runs along Coldstream Way, and Holmview train station is a short drive or a moderate walk away if you are coming by rail.

Close by with the dogs

Mister Q Cafe at the Holmview Central Shopping Centre on Logan River Road is the closest coffee stop, a few minutes from the park. Luv a Coffee in central Beenleigh is another local option that takes dogs. If one fenced session is not enough, the Belyando Park Fenced Dog Park is in the same suburb, the Logan River Fenced Large Dog Park caters to big dogs in Beenleigh, and the Noyer Park Fenced Dog Park is a short drive into Bahrs Scrub.
