Gus Davies Park's dog off-leash area sits in a residential pocket of Bald Hills off Charlock Road, close to Gympie Road, and it runs on 24-hour access, which is the main draw: a quiet local spot where an early or a very late walk is always possible. It is an exercise patch for the neighbourhood rather than a destination park, and after recent upgrades the wider grounds have plenty for the rest of the family too.

The dog setup

The designated off-leash area is unfenced, so dogs need reliable recall and to stay under effective voice control rather than ranging towards the residential boundaries and road edges. Brisbane City Council's standard conditions apply: dogs must be registered and vaccinated, you carry waste bags and use the bins provided, and a dog showing aggression or persistent barking gets leashed and moved on. Open grass, walking paths and established shade trees make up the space, with bins on site.

Worth knowing

The wider park took a recent upgrade, adding a modern playground with a climbing net and play boat, a beginner-friendly mini bike track and shaded picnic tables, all outside the off-leash zone. There are no public toilets on site, so plan ahead with small children. Weekend mornings between 7 and 9am and the 4 to 6pm evening window are busiest; weekday mid-mornings are the quiet stretch.

The park is at 39 Charlock Road, Bald Hills QLD 4036, just off Gympie Road, with street parking along Charlock Road. Brisbane City Council buses stop nearby, so it works without a car.

If you want an enclosed run instead, the Barrett Street Park Fenced Dog Park and the Bill Brown Sports Reserve Fenced Dog Park are both a short drive into Bracken Ridge, and Green Field Cafe there welcomes dogs inside and out.
