Green Field Café

Green Field Cafe is a neighbourhood breakfast and lunch spot at Shop 12, 162 Barrett Street in Bracken Ridge, open 7am to 2pm every day of the week. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, which makes it a practical coffee stop on Brisbane's northside between park runs and school pickups.

The dog setup

Dogs are allowed at the outdoor and alfresco tables out front, not indoors. The alfresco strip is footpath-style and shared with other patrons, so keep your dog leashed and settled tight beside your chair rather than out in the traffic line. Bring water on warm mornings rather than assuming a bowl will be on offer, and if the two or three outdoor tables are taken, ask staff how long the wait looks before settling in.

The vibe and the menu

The kitchen works a straightforward brunch list with some ambition on the plate: mushroom crepes with pulled pork and Persian feta, croissant benedict, big breakfast plates and a strong bakery bench of almond croissants and banana bread. Coffee holds its own, with matcha and mango smoothies for the non-espresso drinkers, and there are vegetarian and vegan options across the menu. Weekend lunch specials sometimes run a lamb shank dish, worth checking their socials before you commit to a plan.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in the Barrett Street shops between U-Go and BWS, with on-site parking plus space on the surrounding streets, so arriving by car with a dog in tow is painless. Service runs 7am to 2pm daily, and the breakfast rush is sharpest on weekend mornings.

Both of Bracken Ridge's fenced runs, Barrett Street Park and Bill Brown Sports Reserve, are a short drive or walk away for a proper run before or after coffee, and Beyond the Brew at Fitzgibbon is another dog-friendly cafe in the next suburb over.
