Beyond The Brew Fitzgibbon

Beyond The Brew is a busy brunch cafe at 530 Roghan Road, Fitzgibbon, about 20 minutes north of the Brisbane CBD. It pours specialty coffee and runs a solid all-day menu, and the outdoor undercover seating is dog friendly, which makes it an easy stop before or after a walk along the nearby Cabbage Tree Creek Bikeway.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor undercover section, not indoors, and they stay on a lead at the table. Water bowls are provided for thirsty dogs, though bringing your own is never a bad idea on a hot Brisbane morning. The outdoor area is popular, so arrive early on weekends if you want a table with room for your dog to settle.

The vibe

This is a neighbourhood brunch spot with a community feel rather than a polished city cafe. The kitchen turns out eggs benedict, burgers, crispy bacon and turkish bread rolls, and the cabinet carries carrot cake and red velvet cake. The venue is licensed and occasionally runs live music and local events, so a Friday evening visit can be a different animal to a quiet weekday breakfast. Hours run from 6am on weekdays (to 8:30pm Fridays) and 6am to 2pm weekends.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on Roghan Road with onsite parking, plus street parking along the surrounding blocks. Fitzgibbon station is a short drive away if you are arriving by train, but most visitors come by car with the dog on board.

Close by with the dogs

The Cabbage Tree Creek Bikeway runs close by with a flat, easy path through local green space, good for a leg-stretch before coffee. If your dog needs proper off-lead time first, the Daytime Hidden World Dog Off Leash Area is in Fitzgibbon itself, and Lacey Road Park in neighbouring Carseldine adds a fully fenced option. For a second coffee stop, Mickey's Cafe in Zillmere is a few minutes down the road.
