Mickey's Cafe

Mickey's Cafe, trading as Mickey's & Nickey's, is a small Italian patisserie at 235 Zillmere Road in Zillmere, on Brisbane's northside, where the cabinet is built around authentic Italian desserts: cannoli shells filled to order, rich tiramisu, biscotti and cookies, all made fresh from family recipes. It is a coffee-and-pastry stop rather than a sit-down meal, and dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath seating out front.

The outdoor tables sit on the footpath frontage along Zillmere Road rather than in a separate courtyard, and dogs on lead are welcome while you order at the counter. Staff have been known to offer a puppacino, and a water bowl is generally on hand, but there is no fixed pet setup, so a collapsible travel bowl is worth packing if your dog is fussy about sharing. The owner's famously warm welcome extends to regulars' dogs.

Worth knowing

Pistachio cannoli is the signature, and the iced latte gets a steady run of praise alongside it. Hours are short and morning-shaped: 6:30am to midday Monday to Friday, 7am to midday Saturday, closed Sundays, so plan the visit early. The business also runs a dessert van, market pop-ups and catering across Brisbane, but this Zillmere Road shopfront is the home base.

The cafe sits on the Zillmere Road shopping strip, with free street parking nearby and a small free lot, so it is an easy stop rather than a destination park. The footpath tables are at kerb level, so the walk in from the car with a dog takes seconds.
