The Cool Room

The Cool Room is a quiet, rustic brunch cafe tucked into the Fremantle backstreets on Holland Street, away from the town-centre bustle. Recycled furniture, good coffee and a covered outdoor area where dogs are welcome make it a relaxed morning stop.

The dog setup. Dogs join you in the outdoor seating, a covered patio that offers shelter and a calm spot to settle. Staff are pet-friendly and known to bring out water dishes, though carrying your own bowl is still wise. Indoor seating is the usual exception.

Good to know. It is a small, unpretentious breakfast spot, with the haloumi bruschetta a regular favourite, open Wednesday to Sunday mornings only and closed Monday and Tuesday. Check current hours before you set out.

Getting there. Find it at 2/114 Holland Street, just off the main roads. There is a free car park plus free street parking, which is a rare bonus this close to central Freo.

Nearby with the dogs. It is a short drive to the South Fremantle and Port Beach areas for a proper off-leash run, and there is plenty of quiet residential street for an on-lead wander beforehand.

When to go. Mid-morning on a weekday is the calmest. Weekend mornings draw the regulars, so arrive earlier to claim a covered outdoor table with room for the lead.
