Leisure and Bean

Leisure and Bean is the cafe at the Fremantle Leisure Centre on Shuffrey Street, with a grab-and-go window straight onto the street. The outdoor setup and easy parking make it a handy post-walk or post-swim coffee stop with a dog.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating around the cafe, not inside the main building. The Shuffrey Street grab-and-go window is genuinely useful, as you can order without leaving your dog tied up out of sight. Staff are pet-friendly; bring your own bowl, as water is not guaranteed.

Good to know. Run by experienced owners formerly of Little Stove, it is rated highly for coffee, with fresh banana bread, brownies, bagels, toasties and salads. Hours run daily mornings to early afternoon.

Getting there. Find it at 10 Shuffrey Street, with ample parking in the Leisure Centre car park and direct access off Shuffrey Street, which makes it easy to fold into a walk.

Nearby with the dogs. Fremantle Park is a few minutes' walk for a large green leg-stretch, and central Fremantle is a short walk on for more wandering.

When to go. A weekday mid-morning is the calmest, outside the busiest swim-school hours. Grab a coffee from the window and settle at an outdoor table with room for the lead.
