Clancy's Fish Pub

Clancy's Fish Pub on Cantonment Street is one of the easier Fremantle spots to bring a dog: a big, casual coastal pub built around a sprawling outdoor area, with fresh seafood, weekend live music and staff long used to dogs settling beside the tables.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the large open courtyard and the shaded front verandah and footpath seating, but not in the indoor dining rooms. Keep your dog on lead. The outdoor space is generous, so there is room to tuck a lead out of the walkway and let your dog settle. Staff bring water on request rather than leaving bowls out as standard, so carry your own travel bowl to be sure.

The vibe

The kitchen leans on fresh local seafood: fish and chips, chilli mussels, squid and seafood platters, backed by a rotating tap list. The courtyard hosts regular weekend music, which lifts the energy considerably. On a quiet weekday it is a family pub; on a Saturday it is a session.

Pepsi: a music afternoon in the courtyard is a great hang, but grab a table away from the speakers if your dog would rather doze than dance.

Getting there

The pub sits at 51 Cantonment Street, a short walk from Fremantle station and the Cappuccino Strip. Street parking on Cantonment Street and the surrounding blocks fills fast on weekends, so the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour and council car parks nearby are the reliable fallback.

Make a day of it

Build the visit around a walk: the Fishing Boat Harbour boardwalk loops past the harbour on lead, and for a proper off-lead run the South Beach dog off-leash area is a short drive south. Work up the appetite first, then order the platter.
