East Fremantle Community Park Fenced Dog Park

The fenced dog exercise area at East Fremantle Community Park sits inside the redeveloped East Fremantle Oval precinct on Forrest Street, a short hop from the Fremantle border. It pairs a secure off-leash yard with a full community precinct, with one catch: leashes go back on whenever East Fremantle Football Club plays at home.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced enclosure, except on WAFL match days when the area is temporarily excluded from the off-leash zone and every dog must be on lead.

The children's playground is off limits to dogs entirely, even on a leash, and you are expected to keep your dog under effective supervision with a lead on hand.

Worth knowing

The town has flagged that small to medium dogs may be able to slip under some gates onto the oval or road, so it pays to walk the fence line yourself before unclipping, especially with an escape artist in tow.

Parts of the precinct are covered by CCTV, and weekend mornings are the busiest window. Mid-week mornings and weekday afternoons are quieter if your dog prefers room to move.

Max: do a lap of the fence line before you let go of the lead. The reported gate gaps are worth checking yourself rather than assuming the whole perimeter is sealed.

Getting there

The park is at the South Stand end of East Fremantle Oval on Forrest Street, with on-site parking for the precinct. Buses along Stirling Highway and Marmion Street stop within walking distance.

Make a day of it

The wider precinct gives you plenty beyond the fence: a cafe, restaurant and bar, a skate zone and an all-abilities nature play space are all close by, so the dog session can anchor a longer morning.

For a second off-leash run, Silas Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park is minutes away, and Spilt Milk Espresso handles the coffee stop in the same suburb.

If you want water with your walk, the dog-friendly South Beach off-leash area is a short drive south, and Zephyr Cafe at John Tonkin Reserve does riverside seating with Swan River views.
