Silas Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Silas Street Reserve is the Town of East Fremantle's fenced dog park, at the corner of George and Silas streets. It is a small neighbourhood yard that local dog owners have relied on for years, but before you plan a visit there is something you need to know: the park has been closed by the Town while bonded asbestos found on site is investigated and remediated, with temporary fencing and locked gates in place. Check the Town of East Fremantle's news page for the current status before you drive over, because reopening depends on the works being finished.

The dog setup

When open, the reserve operates as a fenced off-lead area under the Town's dog exercise rules: dogs under your control and supervision at all times, a physical leash carried so you can restrain your dog on request, current registration and identification tags on the dog, and droppings picked up and binned. The space is compact, which suits calm dogs and owners who want a quick, contained run rather than a big social scene, and the fence gives small or flighty dogs a boundary other local reserves lack.

Max: while the gates are locked, the Town's other off-lead reserves still get you a proper run. Do not climb a temporary fence over asbestos remediation, obviously.

The vibe

The reserve sits in a quiet residential block a short walk from East Fremantle's shops and cafes, and the regulars have always treated it as a low-key local spot rather than a destination park. The Town has flagged condition-of-use notices for its dog exercise areas, so expect clearer signage and enforcement around control and waste when it reopens.

Getting there and parking

The reserve is on Silas Street at its corner with George Street, with street parking in the surrounding residential blocks. Canning Highway and Marmion Street are both close, which makes it an easy detour for anyone moving between Fremantle and the river suburbs.

Close by with the dogs

While Silas Street is closed, East Fremantle Community Park is the Town's other fenced option and the sensible substitute, with the Swan River foreshore reserves a short drive north for on-lead walks.
