The Galleon 4223

The Galleon 4223 is a cafe-restaurant at Shop 2/79 Galleon Way in Currumbin Waters that goes further for dogs than most: a big covered, planted-out outdoor dining area, staff who are good with pets, and dog doughnuts kept on hand for four-legged guests.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome across the outdoor and covered dining areas, on lead. The cover makes it workable in rain or full sun, and the space is generous enough for a dog to lie down in the shade rather than wedge under a small table. The kitchen keeps dog doughnuts available, sometimes alongside ZIWI Peak treats, so a dog is properly catered for rather than just tolerated.

Pepsi: A cafe with actual dog doughnuts is my kind of place. Get in early on a weekend so you land a spot in the shady planted section before it fills.

The vibe

It runs breakfast, lunch and selected dinner sittings, with generous comfort plates: the Galleon Big Brekky, the Big Galley Roll, brekkie burritos, Wagyu croissants, potato rosti, burgers, fish and chips, plus fresh juices, acai bowls and a cabinet of brownies and chocolate mousse. It is a genuine local favourite, so weekends fill fast and a booking is a fair idea for the good tables.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in the Galleon Way shopping village in Currumbin Waters, with village parking right at the storefront plus street parking on Galleon Way, and easy access off the main roads through the suburb. Hours run 6am to 2pm Monday to Thursday, with dinner sittings 4:30pm to 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday, and 6am to 1pm on Sunday.

Make a morning of it

The Atkin Park dog exercise area at Tugun is a short drive south for an off-lead run, and the Palm Beach dog off-leash beach suits a sand-and-swim session before breakfast. Currumbin Creek is minutes away for a scenic waterside walk on lead.
