Cafe by the Bridge

Cafe by the Bridge sits on the banks of Currumbin Creek at Shop 5, 2 Thrower Drive, close to the Alley, and the whole appeal is in the address: outdoor tables right by the water, dogs welcome, coffee in hand. Open from 6am daily, it is a proper stop on a creek-side walk rather than somewhere you drive to for the food alone.

The dog setup

Dogs settle at the outdoor footpath and patio tables beside the water, on leash, with staff well practised at sorting out a water bowl. Inside is people only. The reviews consistently name it one of the more dog-friendly stops on the southern Gold Coast, and the waterfront edge gives a leashed dog plenty to watch while you wait for food.

Worth knowing

The menu is classic breakfast and brunch: a chilli benny, pea fritters, bacon and egg rolls and avocado toast, moving to burgers and steak sandwiches at lunch, with fresh pastries in the cabinet. Coffee is the most consistently praised thing on the list. One honest caveat: reviews occasionally mention slow runs on packed weekend mornings, so a midweek visit is the smoother experience. Note the cafe closed suddenly in 2022 before reopening under continued operation; if you are making a long trip, a quick call ahead is fair sense.

Getting there and parking

A small car park sits directly beside the cafe, with more parking at Winders Park nearby. From Currumbin Alley it is a short walk along the creek, and the surrounding paths make the whole outing doable on foot.

Close by with the dogs

The creek-side path is a flat, pleasant on-leash walk in both directions, and Currumbin Alley is a short stroll for a swim break. Off-leash beach stretches nearby run on council-set hours, so check signage before dropping the lead.
