Refinery Coffee

Refinery Coffee is a converted warehouse cafe at 1/37 Currumbin Creek Road in Currumbin Waters, and it is genuinely happy to have dogs along. The sun-drenched alfresco area comes with a grassy patch beside the tables, so a well-behaved dog has somewhere proper to settle rather than a strip of footpath.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the alfresco courtyard and outdoor dining areas, the umbrella-covered section out the front, with water bowls provided on the house and a puppuccino on request from the kitchen. Inside is for ordering only. The courtyard is pram-accessible and family-friendly, and the grassy patch is the spot dogs gravitate to; arrive before the mid-morning rush if you want the sunny tables with room to stretch.

The vibe and the menu

High ceilings, plants and the occasional bit of live music set a relaxed sit, with Blackboard Coffee local roasts and a matcha list that goes as far as soft-serve. The menu leans modern-Asian brunch: Turkish-style eggs with flatbread, chilli scram with feta and sambal on sourdough, nasi goreng, eggs benedict and smashed avo, plus bacon and egg rolls with house-made relish. Hours run 6:30am to 2pm weekdays and 7am to 2pm weekends, with a bottomless brunch from 10am that is worth booking.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits in the commercial pocket of Currumbin Waters, with free street parking nearby and flat, easy access from kerb to outdoor table, which makes arrivals with a dog or a pram simple.

You are a short drive from the Currumbin Creek parklands and the off-leash runs around the alley; closer options include Atkin Park dog park at Tugun and the Tallebudgera Island off-leash area at Elanora. Bancroft Roasters is the suburb's other specialty coffee stop.
