Refinery Coffee

The short version. Refinery Coffee is a converted warehouse cafe on Currumbin Creek Road, and it is genuinely happy to have your dog along. The draw is a sun-drenched alfresco area with a grassy patch beside the tables, so a well-behaved dog has somewhere to settle rather than just a bit of footpath.

Where the dogs go. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating, which is the sunny, umbrella-covered section out the front. Inside is for ordering only, in line with the usual food-service rules. Water bowls are on hand, and the kitchen will do a puppuccino if you ask.

Worth knowing. It leans modern-Asian brunch, with the Eggs Benny and smashed avo doing the heavy lifting, plus a solid coffee and tea list. High ceilings, plants and the occasional bit of live music make for a relaxed sit. Kitchen hours are roughly 6:30am to 2pm on weekdays and from 7am on weekends.

Getting there. It sits in the commercial pocket of Currumbin Waters on Currumbin Creek Road, with free street parking nearby and flat, easy access from the kerb to the outdoor tables.

Make a morning of it. You are a short drive from the Currumbin Creek boardwalk and parklands, and the off-leash options around Currumbin Alley are close by for a run before or after coffee.
