The short version. Iron and Resin Garage is a motorcycle shop and cafe rolled into one on Stewart Road, and the open-air, biker-shed layout makes it an easy one to bring a dog to. Come Sunday morning there is usually live music and a yard full of bikes, so it is more of an event than a quiet flat white.

Where the dogs go. Dogs are welcome in the open-air front seating and along the street-facing footpath. The retail apparel section indoors is not the place for them, but the seating is largely outdoors anyway so you will not be split up. Staff will usually sort a water bowl on request, though it is worth carrying your own on a busy day.

Worth knowing. The food is hearty and generous, built around big breakfast rolls and burgers, with Will and Co coffee to go with it. It gets loud and social at weekends, which suits an outgoing dog and less so a nervous one.

Getting there. It is at 6 Stewart Road, with on-street parking right out the front and flat access from the road to the tables.

Make a morning of it. It is a short drive or a long walk from Currumbin Beach and the creek area at the Alley, where there are designated dog-friendly times to check before you go.

Sunday brings crowds, bikes and music all at once. If your dog is not sure about engine noise, take a weekday visit instead and keep the lead short near the driveway.
