Iron and Resin Garage

Iron and Resin Garage is a motorcycle workshop and cafe rolled into one shed on Stewart Road, Currumbin Waters, and the open-air layout does most of the work for dog owners. Grab a table in the front seating area, clip the lead on and settle in while the coffee comes out. On Sundays it turns into something of an event, with live music and a yard full of bikes.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the open-air front seating and along the street-facing footpath, with water bowls usually sorted on request and leash clips fixed to the outdoor tables for tethering. The indoor retail apparel section is people-only, but with most of the seating outside you will not be split up. Keep the lead short near the driveway, bikes come and go.

Worth knowing

The food is built for appetites: bacon and egg rolls, burgers and hearty plates, poured alongside Will and Co coffee. Beer is on the menu for later in the day, and Thursday to Friday evenings stretch the hours well past a normal cafe's. Weekends get loud and social, which suits an outgoing dog and less so a nervous one.

Getting there and parking

It is at 6 Stewart Road, Currumbin Waters, with on-street parking along the front and flat access from the road to the tables. The shed sits a short drive inland from the Currumbin beach strip.

Pepsi: Sunday brings crowds, bikes and music all at once. If your dog is unsure about engine noise, go on a weekday morning and take the quiet version.

Make a morning of it

Pair the stop with a walk at the beach or the creek end at the Alley, where designated dog-friendly times apply and it is worth checking before you go. For more coffee in the same pocket, Refinery Coffee and Bancroft Roasters are both nearby, and Cafe by the Bridge sits on the Currumbin side.
