Hidden Gem Coffee

This small coffee bar at 3/28 Station Street, Tugun, is the kind of local stop the southern Gold Coast runs on: strong coffee, big breakfast rolls and a street-side row of tables where dogs settle in without anyone blinking. It opens at 5am on weekdays and 6am on Sundays, closing at 1pm daily.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor street tables on a lead, which is where most of the seating is anyway. Order at the counter and take a table out front; staff are used to four-legged regulars arriving with the morning walking crowd. There is no dedicated dog menu or bowl station advertised, so bring water on warm days and keep the lead short while the footpath is busy.

The vibe

The food list is the reason people queue: bacon and egg rolls, eggs benedict, chilli scrambled eggs, toasties and a well-regarded sausage roll. It is compact and busy rather than sprawling, with a loyal local trade and a take-and-go rhythm on weekday mornings. Weekend seats fill early, so an arrival before 8am is the safe play.

Getting there

Station Street runs off the Gold Coast Highway at the Tugun end, a short walk from Tugun Beach and opposite the local bowls club. Street parking along Station Street and the surrounding blocks usually has a spot, though it thins out on weekend mornings.

The Atkin Park Dog Exercise Area is the natural off-lead stop nearby, and Palm Beach Dog Off-Leash Beach is a few minutes north for a swim. For a sit-down breakfast with a courtyard, House of Hubert is the other dog-friendly pick in Tugun, and The Buddies HQ sits just up the highway at Bilinga.
