The setup. Aperitivo is an Italian-leaning cafe and panini bar at 8 Thrower Drive, in the busy little food corner near Currumbin Creek. Dogs are welcome at the kerbside outdoor tables under the yellow umbrellas; inside is people only. The seating is fairly compact, so a well-settled dog tucked beside your chair works best when it gets busy.

Good to know. It opens early, which makes it a solid post-walk or post-surf stop. The kitchen turns out housemade panini and focaccia, wood-fired pizza and good coffee, with the meatball roll a regular pick. Water bowls are generally around, but bring your own to be safe on a full morning.

Getting there. Street parking runs along Thrower Drive with extra spaces behind the cafe. It is an easy walk if you are already down by the creek.

Nearby. Currumbin Creek is a stone's throw away for a quick leg-stretch, and the boardwalks and paths along Thrower Drive make for an easy on-leash loop. Off-leash beach stretches nearby run on set hours, so check the signs first.
