Grind Espresso

Grind Espresso is a long-running coffee staple at 14-16/2 Surf Road, near the train station and a short walk from South Cronulla beach. It is widely rated as one of the most reliably dog-friendly cafes in town, and the early opening makes it a natural first stop after a morning beach walk.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, which are the main seating and where most patrons with dogs sit. Staff are accommodating and usually find space near the outdoor tables. Bring your own water bowl to be safe on a hot morning.

Good to know. The reputation is built on consistent coffee, going back to 2002, with a simple food menu and a busy local-hangout feel. Open daily from early, around 5:30am most days, which suits dawn walkers.

Getting there. Free street parking is nearby but fills quickly. It is an easy walk from South Cronulla beach or the ferry wharf.

Nearby with the dogs. The Cronulla esplanade runs along the coast a short walk away, and South Cronulla beach is close (mind the on-sand dog restrictions during the day).

Early morning is the sweet spot for both a quiet table and a calm walk. Good for a quick coffee in the routine rather than a long sit-down.
