Toogoom 3.5 is a natural beach access near 389 Oregan Creek Road, at the Oregan Creek end of the Toogoom foreshore. It is a peaceful, uncrowded stretch with soft sand and shallow water, suited to long walks and sociable dogs rather than busy beach scenes.

The rules. The access allows off-leash play, with dogs kept under effective control by voice command or immediate recall. Note that the well-known 24-hour off-leash zone is the Shellcot Street to Ries Road section further along, and the Fraser Coast is rolling out new signage and maps with possible seasonal bird-protection zones later in 2026. Check the signs on site to confirm where off-leash applies before letting go of the lead, and clean up after your dog.

The water and sand. Vast sand flats open up at low tide for running, while higher tide brings shallow calm water close to shore for a splash. The beach is fully exposed, so bring water and shade.

What's there. Street parking nearby and a small water bowl on a pedestal near the sandy entrance path. The dune line of coastal trees gives some natural shade. Facilities are otherwise limited to a signpost, this is a natural beach rather than a developed park.

Getting there. About 15 minutes north of Hervey Bay, with the entrance at 389 Oregan Creek Road. Access is via sandy paths through the coastal scrub. Public transport is very limited, so drive.

When to go. Weekday mornings or late afternoons are quietest and coolest. Aim for low tide for the most room to run. Good for nervous or sociable dogs that like calm, open space.
