Salty at Toogoom

Salty at Toogoom is a casual licensed seafood cafe and bistro at 67 Moreton Street in the beachside pocket of Toogoom, a short walk from the foreshore. It pairs a fresh seafood kitchen with a relaxed garden where dogs are welcome, which makes it the natural stop after a beach walk.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the outdoor garden and courtyard, not indoors, which is the usual arrangement at a licensed venue. Staff are easy with dogs and regulars bring theirs as a matter of course, but carry your own water bowl, especially on busy weekend services when the garden fills.

The vibe

The kitchen is built around fresh seafood: oysters, prawns, scallops and calamari, plus battered fish and chips, with breakfast staples like eggs benedict covering the morning shift. Occasional live music and a locals-regular crowd give it the feel of a village pub without the pub. Hours run 7:30am to 3pm Tuesday to Sunday, closed Mondays, with evening events now and then, so check the cafe's page before a special trip.

Pepsi: come on a Sunday morning, order the seafood platter to share and let the dog doze under the table. The garden is at its laziest and best before midday.

Getting there and parking

Toogoom sits on the coast north of Hervey Bay, and Moreton Street is the village's main strip, with street parking out the front and along the road. The walk from car to garden is flat and step-free.

Close by with the dogs

The Toogoom foreshore east of the village is a 24/7 off-leash stretch, and signed entries such as Toogoom 10 Beach Access put you straight onto the sand. Further around the bay, Urangan's 24/7 off-leash beach is the bigger option, and Serenity Caravan Park keeps travelling dogs in the village overnight.
