Toogoom 04 Beach Access

Toogoom 04 is a natural beach access off Kalinda Court, a quiet, tranquil stretch of the Toogoom foreshore with calm water and extensive sand flats at low tide. It is generally less crowded than the Hervey Bay beaches, which makes it a gentle option for nervous dogs.

The rules. This part of the foreshore is time-restricted rather than the 24-hour zone further along. Dogs are off-leash roughly between 3pm and 8am, and on-leash between 8am and 3pm. Dogs must stay under effective control and respond to voice command. There are signed dog-free areas for swimming and wildlife, and the Fraser Coast is adding new shorebird zones later in 2026, so always check the signage on site before you let your dog off.

The water and sand. At low tide the water recedes dramatically to leave broad flat sand for running, while high tide is better for a dip at the shore. The incoming tide returns quickly across the wide flats, so keep watch.

What's there. On-street parking near the entrance and a short sandy track of about 150 metres to the beach. There are no dog water or waste bags provided here, so bring your own. The nearest toilets are at Toogoom 08 access.

Getting there. Roughly 15 to 20 minutes north of Hervey Bay via Booral Road or Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road, then Toogoom Road. Turn into Kalinda Court from Shellcot Street. Public transport is effectively non-existent, so drive.

Nearby with the dogs. Goody's On The Beach (54 Moreton Street) is a dog-friendly waterfront spot with a shaded patio, and Salty at Toogoom (67 Moreton Street) welcomes dogs in its garden. Serenity Caravan Park (39 Moreton Street) is pet-friendly within walking distance.

When to go. Weekday afternoons are quietest. Time your visit for the off-leash window and a low tide for the most room. Good for calm, easily startled dogs.
