Leogate Estate sits at 1693 Broke Road in Pokolbin on the historic Brokenback Vineyard site, a polished cellar door and restaurant with the Brokenback Range filling the view beyond the vines. It leans premium, but the extensive lawns and shaded outdoor tables are where dog owners get looked after.

Dogs at Leogate Estate

Dogs are welcome on the lawns and at the shaded outdoor seating near the cellar door, settled on a lead beside your table. They are not taken inside the tasting room or The Gates restaurant, so plan to be outdoors, which is where the vineyard and mountain view lives anyway. Bring your own water bowl because outdoor amenities for dogs are not guaranteed, and clean up promptly so the lawns stay open to four-legged guests after you.

The tasting

The range runs to premium cool-climate wines, with the Chardonnay the usual talking point, and tastings happen at the bar or fireside inside if you duck in without the dog. The Gates restaurant handles sit-down lunches, drawing a steady crowd, so book ahead if a meal is part of the plan. Cheese boards and canapes are regular companions to the wine flights.

Getting there and parking

The estate is clearly signed on Broke Road and easy to reach by car, with ample free on-site parking including a gravel car park a few steps from the cellar door. The cellar door opens Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm and closes Monday and Tuesday, so a weekend or midweek visit needs to fall accordingly.

The open lawns get exposed on a hot afternoon, so aim for a morning visit or grab a shaded table in summer.
