Tulloch Wines

Tulloch Wines at 638 De Beyers Road is a fourth-generation family cellar door, pouring since 1895, and it leans casual rather than stiff: lawn games on the lawn, cheese and charcuterie boards, and a relaxed seated tasting. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas, with the balcony terrace the prime spot.

The dog setup

Pet dogs are welcomed on the balcony overlooking the vines, and the grassed surrounds give a restless dog somewhere to stretch between tastings. The indoor cellar door is for assistance dogs only, so plan to be seated outside and mention the dog when you book.

Lead on and supervised at all times. Bring your own bowl and water so the dog is comfortable on the deck; staff are accommodating but do not assume dog amenities are set up.

The vibe

Seated tastings run through flights such as the Hunter Heroes and wine and chocolate matching, many paired with local artisan cheese and charcuterie boards. Oversized lawn games, a junior and teen tasting for the kids, and the Brokenback Range backdrop make it an easy place to linger rather than rush.

Pepsi: the balcony is the seat to grab. Get the platter, settle the dog in the shade, and make an afternoon of it.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door is open 10am to 5pm daily, closed Good Friday and Christmas Day, with on-site parking and level access right by the entrance, which helps when you are juggling a lead and a platter. Walk-ins are accommodated when space allows, but a booking is the safe way to lock in a balcony table.
