Parched Crow Wines

Parched Crow at 536 De Beyers Road is a family-owned boutique cellar door that welcomes dogs inside rather than tethering them to a post out front. It opens Friday to Sunday, and in winter there is an open fire to settle a dog beside while you taste.

Where the dog goes. Dogs are allowed inside the cellar door and out wandering the vineyard and grounds with you. Keep yours on a lead and clean up after them. Water bowls are often available, though carrying your own is wise.

What is there. Boutique wines crafted by noted winemaker Andrew Thomas, spanning Semillon, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Shiraz and Sangiovese. The room genuinely revolves around being dog-friendly, with the winter fire a real draw for a cosy stop.

Getting there. 536 De Beyers Road, central in Pokolbin and easy to reach from the major roads. On-site parking is available. Note the Friday-to-Sunday hours before you set out.

When to go. The indoor fire makes winter a highlight here, while the inside access helps on a hot summer day too. Weekends are the window given the opening days, so an earlier slot keeps it calm.
