McLeish Estate at 463 DeBeyers Road is a boutique, family-run winery, established 1985, that is about as dog-welcoming as Pokolbin gets. Dogs come inside the cellar door and across the grounds, water bowls are dotted through the buildings and gardens, and a resident schnauzer named Spencer patrols the place.

Where the dog goes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome inside the cellar door and out on the picturesque grounds, including on the deck and even in the Vault VIP tasting area. Keep yours on a lead, especially around the vineyards and flower gardens. Water bowls are provided throughout, and dogs often get a treat.

What is there. Award-winning warm-climate wines led by top-tier Semillon and Chardonnay, a wall of show medals and trophies behind them, and a personal, family-run welcome. There are pet club sign-ups for the regulars.

Getting there. 463 DeBeyers Road, central in the wine region and reached via Hermitage Road or Broke Road. On-site parking sits directly outside the cellar door, and the quiet DeBeyers Road lanes suit a post-tasting walk.

When to go. The indoor access and on-site water make this an easy stop in any weather. Weekdays keep the small cellar door calm for a settled visit with the dog.
