Garbin Estate Wines

Garbin Estate Wines is a family-run cellar door in the Swan Valley that has been going since 1956, and it is genuinely one of the more flexible wineries around for dog owners: well-behaved dogs are welcomed both on the grounds and inside the cellar door itself, with no entry fee or pet fee.

The dog setup

Dogs can join you outdoors on the grounds or inside at the counter, which is unusually accommodating for a working winery. Leads must stay clipped on at all times across the property, grounds included, so do not plan any off-leash time even where the space looks open. Bring your own travel bowl and treats, though staff will often provide water on request. Keep an eye out for Froy, the resident winery dog, who sometimes roams the grounds; fine for sociable dogs, worth a heads-up if yours needs space.

Worth knowing

Garbin specialises in methode traditionnelle sparkling wine alongside a solid range of whites, reds and fortifieds, with Chenin Blanc and Sangiovese among the signatures. There is no full kitchen, but grazing and cheeseboards can be pre-ordered to go with a tasting. Open Tuesday to Sunday, 11am to 4:30pm, closed Mondays, and weekday visits are generally calmer for settling a dog inside.

Max: leads stay on here the whole visit, grounds included, so don't plan on any off-leash time even if the space looks open.

Getting there and parking

The cellar door is at 209 Toodyay Road, Middle Swan, about 30 to 35 minutes northeast of the Perth CBD by car, with a free car park directly outside. Swan Valley afternoons heat up quickly, so morning visits are the go in the warmer months.
