Discovery Parks - Swan Valley is a holiday park at 91 Benara Road, Caversham, on the doorstep of the Swan Valley wine region and about 20 to 30 minutes from the Perth CBD. It is a genuinely dog-ready base, with a dedicated pet-friendly cabin listed on its own site plus caravan and tent sites, but only if you book the pet option explicitly.

Dogs at the park

Pets go in designated pet-friendly accommodation only, the clearest example being the Standard Studio Cabin - Pet Friendly, an open-plan queen cabin that sleeps two, and dogs are also welcome on caravan and tent sites. Not every cabin qualifies, so select a pet-friendly option when booking or call the park directly to confirm, because pet cabins and sites are limited and subject to availability. Around the park, dogs stay on a leash outside your cabin or site, you are responsible for cleaning up with waste stations provided, and pets are kept out of communal indoor spaces like the camp kitchen and pool area. Pet fees are set at booking, so confirm the exact charge when you reserve.

Worth knowing

Guests rate the clean, comfortable cabins and the welcoming staff, and the park's location is its best asset: the Swan Valley's wineries, cafes and river walks fan out from Benara Road in every direction. Bring your own bowls and bedding, and keep barking considerate in the cabin rows.

Getting there and parking

Benara Road runs along the Swan River's upper reaches between Guildford and the valley, with free on-site parking at your cabin or site. Coming from Perth, take the Great Eastern Highway Bypass toward Guildford and follow the signs into Caversham.

Close by with the dogs

The valley is easy with a dog in the car: Ugly Duckling Wines and Edgecombe Winery both welcome dogs in their outdoor areas. For off-lead time, the Little Duck Creek Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits just over in Guildford and the Whiteman Park Fenced Dog Park adds 2.5 hectares of fenced bushland a short drive east, with dogs on a two-metre lead elsewhere in the park.
