Whiteman Park Fenced Dog Park

Whiteman Park Fenced Dog Park is a 2.5-hectare fully fenced off-leash area in the Mussel Pool East precinct of Whiteman Park, at 233a Drumpellier Drive. Free to enter and open daily from 8:30am to 6pm, its size, natural shade and separate small-dog enclosure make it a standout for secure runs in Perth's north-east.

The dog setup

Dogs stay on lead until you are inside the fence, and the double-gated entry and exit points must be closed behind you at every pass. Owners keep control at all times and use the provided bins. The dedicated small-dog enclosure is restricted to dogs under 10kg, and any dog showing aggression should be removed straight away. The park closes on alternate Thursdays, usually 10am to 1pm, for mowing and maintenance.

Max: treat the double gates as a hard checkpoint. Wait for the inner gate to be fully closed before you open the outer one, and never hold both open at once. That is where secure dogs slip out.

The vibe

The 2.5 hectares balance open running space with extensive tree shade, and more than 500 metres of limestone paths circle the enclosure. Obstacle and agility equipment keeps working dogs engaged, and drinking fountains or troughs are provided. Picnic tables sit inside for owners, with public toilets nearby in the wider precinct.

Getting there

A car is the realistic way in. Drive via Lord Street or Beechboro Road North and follow signs for Mussel Pool East rather than hunting for dog park signage, which is limited. Parking is available near Car Park 23 beside the precinct. Public transport to Mussel Pool East is impractical.

While you're out there

Outside the fence, the rest of Whiteman Park is on-lead, including the Mussel Pool picnic grounds and the bushland trails. The Whiteman Loop via Village Junction and Zamia Station makes a good on-lead extension to the visit. Iluma Dog Park at Bennett Springs is another fenced option to the south.
