Dayton Fenced Dog Park sits at the corner of Dayton Boulevard and Firewood Way in Dayton, a growing estate on Perth's Swan Valley edge. This is the small dog section: a fully fenced, separate enclosure that lets little dogs play away from the big ones. It is a local park for daily use rather than a destination worth a long drive.

The dog setup

The park's full perimeter is fenced, with separate play spaces for small and large dogs, so this enclosure is where a cavalier or a foxy can run without a mastiff barrelling through. Entry runs through double gates, and the City of Swan's rules apply: your dog stays under the control of a responsible person at all times, waste gets picked up immediately with bins on site, and outside the fenced areas dogs are on lead in public spaces unless signed otherwise.

Worth knowing

The space is open and grassed with water access, bag dispensers and benches. Shade is the weak point: only a scattering of trees, and the enclosure bakes on summer afternoons, so go early or late in the warm months. Local feedback has been mixed over time, with cleanliness sometimes called out, so keep an eye on the ground and carry spare bags rather than relying on the dispensers.

Pepsi: Secure the double gate behind you every time. It is a new estate with plenty of foot traffic, and an eager small dog slips past legs easily at the entry.

Getting there and parking

Dayton sits in the City of Swan, reached via Daviot Road or Lord Street off Reid Highway. Street parking runs along Dayton Boulevard and Firewood Way right at the corner.

Close by with the dogs

For a bigger fenced run, the Little Duck Creek Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Guildford is a short drive east. Afterwards, Toe Beans Bassendean is a cafe built around dog people, or point the car at the valley and book a tasting at Garbin Estate Wines, one of the Swan Valley's pet friendly cellar doors.
