Edgecombe Winery

Edgecombe Winery is a family-run winery, cafe and working farm at 1733 Gnangara Road in Henley Brook, on the western edge of the Swan Valley. It opens Friday to Sunday from 9am to 4pm and has a long-standing dog-friendly reputation, which is rarer among valley cellar doors than the marketing suggests. The setting is rustic rather than polished: a covered al fresco patio over the vines, farm produce for sale, and a pianist most weekends.

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor and al fresco areas, including the covered patio that looks over the vineyard, but stay out of the cellar door and cafe interiors. Keep your dog on lead and settled at your table; the patio is spacious enough that a lying-down labrador is no obstruction. Staff will bring a water bowl on request, though on a 35 degree Perth afternoon carrying your own is still the safe call.

The vibe

This is the relaxed end of the Swan Valley. The menu runs to brunch and lunch, grazing boards and Devonshire tea, and the estate is known for small-batch wines and fortifieds rather than a polished tasting-room experience. Muscat table grapes come off the property in season, the family runs the farm shop, and a small playground keeps children occupied, which keeps the atmosphere easy-going for dogs that prefer a calm table to a busy one.

Getting there and parking

The winery sits on Gnangara Road at Henley Brook, about 25 minutes north east of Perth and easy to reach off the main road into the valley's western end. Parking is ample and on site, so you can park close, walk the dog around the grounds and settle in without a hike from the car.
