Edgecombe Winery

Edgecombe Brothers is a family-run winery, cafe and farm on Gnangara Road at the western edge of the Swan Valley in Henley Brook. It has a genuine dog-friendly reputation, with a covered al fresco patio that looks over the vines, and it works well as a relaxed brunch or lunch stop with the dog along.

The rules. Dogs are welcome in the designated al fresco dining and covered patio area, not inside the cellar door or cafe. Keep them on the lead and settled at your table, and the outdoor space does the rest.

The setup. The patio is shaded and takes in views over the vineyard, so it is a comfortable spot for a dog to lie down beside you. Staff are friendly to dogs and will bring a water bowl on request, though carrying your own is still the safe call on a hot day.

Known for. Fresh farm produce, including Muscat table grapes in season, small-batch estate wines and fortifieds, and a relaxed menu that runs to lunch and Devonshire tea. Grazing boards and a pianist feature in the mix.

When to go. Brunch and earlier lunch are the calmer, cooler windows for the patio. Weekends draw the crowds, so an earlier arrival keeps things easy for a dog that likes a bit of space.
