Shaw Park

Shaw Park runs along Shaw Road on the border of Wooloowin and Wavell Heights, beside the Kedron Brook floodplain. Dogs walk here on lead, and it makes a handy starting point for the longer Kedron Brook paths.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council allows dogs in the park on a lead and under effective control. Keep them out of playgrounds and off sporting fields that are restricted during active matches.

The walk

Concrete and asphalt paths wind through the park, with grass alongside. You pass open sports fields, tall gum trees and the busy tennis and sports precinct.

Shade is moderate, with mature trees along parts of the perimeter and creek paths, while the fields are largely exposed.

Getting started

There is off-street parking within the precinct off Shaw Road. Bubblers with dog bowls sit along the adjacent paths, and bins are near the fields and entrances.

Make a day of it

Let the dog loose at the Kedron Brook Floodway off-leash area, then grab a coffee at Odins Hollow.

Mornings and late afternoons are cooler on the open fields. It suits social dogs comfortable around sports crowds.
