Piney Lakes Reserve

Piney Lakes Reserve sits on Leach Highway in Winthrop, right on the Myaree border. The rule that shapes a visit is strict: dogs are welcome on lead, but only on the sealed paths and boardwalks.

Where dogs can walk

The City of Melville keeps dogs out of the unsealed paths, the wetland zones and the sensory playground. Stick to the hard surfaces and you can see most of the reserve.

The reserve also has a fenced dog play park with separate areas for small and large dogs. Inside it there are water fountains with bowls, bins and some shelter.

The walk

The paths wind through wetland with native plants, plenty of birdlife and Noongar cultural trails. Parts of the outer paths have little shade, so plan for sun.

Parking is near the eastern entrance off Murdoch Drive.

Max: The dirt tracks look inviting, but they are off limits for dogs. Keep to the paved loop.
