For off-lead time, head to the dedicated dog parks in precincts such as Bungarribee or Shale Hills.

The walk

Surfaces vary, with sealed asphalt sections joined by unsealed gravel trails. The country is open and wide, and eastern grey kangaroos turn up from time to time.

Shade is patchy across the open grassland, so carry water for the dog.

Max: Kangaroos can appear on the trail, so keep the lead short and your dog close when you spot one.
