Warrigal Dog Run

Warrigal Dog Run is one of the biggest fenced off-leash parks in Sydney, roughly two hectares set inside Bungarribee Parklands on Doonside Road, Arndell Park. It runs off-leash sunrise to sunset seven days a week, and the scale is the point: two very large enclosures, one for large dogs and one for small or timid dogs, each with a double-gated entry.

The dog setup

Entry is through the double gates, one open at a time, and inside the fence dogs are off-leash under your supervision at all times. Handlers need to be 16 or older, dogs are never left unattended, and dogs go back on leash everywhere else in Bungarribee Park. Water fountains and bowls sit inside the exercise area, bags and bins are near the entries, and shaded shelters give owners a spot to stand. Public toilets including accessible facilities are a short walk away in the main park zones.

Max: check the gate closing time in high summer when sunset creeps later, and always use both gates on the double-gate entry, one open at a time, so nothing bolts.

The vibe

Saturday mornings are the busiest slot by a distance. Weekday mornings and evenings, and Tuesday and Wednesday nights, are noticeably quieter. Even at peak, the run is large enough that it rarely feels crowded, which gives nervous dogs room to keep their distance from the wrestlers.

Getting there and parking

The run sits off Doonside Road with free on-site parking via Holbeche Road, about a kilometre north of the M4. Bungarribee's car parks, including the Runway and Greenbelt lots, put you a short stroll from the gates. It is a car-dependent outing; Blacktown and Doonside bus routes get you close but public transport in the immediate area is limited.

Make a day of it

Harvey's Social is right next door on Doonside Road, a dog-friendly outdoor cafe with its own dog menu, so the reward stop is built in.
