Sans Souci Beach Walking Path

The Sans Souci Beach Walking Path is a flat, paved foreshore route along Botany Bay and the Georges River, running from around Russell Avenue toward Dolls Point with views of the Captain Cook Bridge. It is a strictly on-leash walk, popular with joggers and cyclists as well as dog walkers.

Leash status. Dogs must be on leash the entire length of the path and on surrounding parkland, including within 10 metres of any BBQ or playground area. Dogs are not permitted on the sandy beach itself at Sans Souci, this route is the path and foreshore parkland only.

The walk. A flat, paved, shared pathway suitable for any fitness level, running along the water with room for walking, jogging, and cycling. Expect a fairly busy, breezy suburban stretch rather than a quiet bush trail.

Water. Drinking water bubblers are available along the path, but bring a portable bowl since they are not dog-specific.

What's there. Public toilets are available at several points near the park and towards Dolls Point, along with dog waste bins and bags at path entrances, plus benches and sheltered picnic spots along the water.

Getting there. The main access and limited free parking is at the end of Russell Avenue and along the foreshore access roads, and it fills fast on weekends. Bus routes run along nearby Rocky Point Road for access to the southern end of the walk, check Transport for NSW for current services.

Nearby with the dogs. Bona Park Off-leash Dog Area is a short drive away in Sans Souci for off-leash time, and cafes along Rocky Point Road offer dog-friendly outdoor seating for a stop before or after the walk.

When to go: before 9am or on weekdays to avoid joggers and families on the narrower sections. Tides do not affect the path itself, but a low tide view with exposed sandbanks is calmer if your dog is unsure about open water nearby.
