What visitors mention
Bona Park Off-leash Dog Area is a small, fully fenced off-leash park on the corner of Bona Street and Sandringham Street in Sans Souci, open 24 hours a day. The flat, grassy field and double-gated entry make it a reliable, low-stress option for daily exercise, especially for smaller or shy dogs.
The rules. Dogs must be under effective voice control and in sight of their owner even though the area is fenced. Keep dogs leashed on the way in and out through the double gate, and leash and remove any dog showing aggressive or anti-social behaviour straight away. Pick up waste immediately, bins are provided on site. Confirm any commercial training limitations directly with Bayside Council before running group sessions here.
What's there. The park is fully fenced with secure double-gated entry, a dedicated dog drinking water station, and bench seating for owners. There is no lighting, so treat it as a daytime spot, and no public toilets on site. Shade is limited, so bring sun protection in summer.
Getting there. Free on-street parking is available on the surrounding residential streets. Bus routes along nearby Rocky Point Road get you within a short walk; check Transport for NSW for current services.
Nearby with the dogs. Cafes along Rocky Point Road and towards Dolls Point offer outdoor dog-friendly seating for a coffee after park time. This is a grassy park only, not a swimming spot. For water access, Dolls Point is close by.

When to go: weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest, weekend mornings and after-work hours draw the biggest crowd. Good for small or nervous dogs thanks to the full fencing and flat, open layout.
