Frys Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Frys Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a 24-hour, fully fenced off-leash park at 1 Warialda Street in Kogarah, a short walk from Kogarah Station on the T4 line. Bayside Council gave the enclosure a solid upgrade recently, reworking the ground with mulch and compacted granitic sand, adding a concrete access path and natural agility features, and improving the seating and drinking fountain.

The rules

Dogs can be off lead any time inside the fence, but council rules still require you to carry a leash and keep your dog under effective control, and to clean up immediately using the bins provided. A dog showing aggression has to be leashed and removed. The perimeter was fenced and upgraded in the recent works, but it is still worth a lap of the fence line before you clip the lead off.

What's on site

Sandstone blocks and logs give dogs something to climb and explore beyond chasing each other, and the drinking fountain setup was improved as part of the upgrade. Bench seating sits around the edge for owners, and shade comes from the jacarandas and surrounding trees, which thins out in high summer. The new surface drains far better than the old ground, though low patches can still hold water after sustained rain.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Warialda Street with free street parking usually findable nearby, and the concrete path now links the main park path straight into the enclosure. If you would rather skip the car, Kogarah Station is an easy walk and the town centre's cafes are on the way.

Worth knowing

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quiet windows, while Sundays and late weekday afternoons draw the biggest crowds from the surrounding apartment blocks. It is a calm, local-feeling park rather than a destination park, so regulars dominate. Bring a towel in winter and a shade plan in January.

If the fence is busy, Scarborough Off Leash Dog Park on Civic Avenue is the suburb's other off-leash option, and Kafe Neo on Rocky Point Road is a friendly coffee stop used to dogs on morning walks. On a hot day, the Kyeemagh Off Leash Dog Area down at the coast adds a swim.
