Rayner Reserve

Rayner Reserve in Oak Park has a designated off-lead area inside a perimeter fence, with a flat circuit path around the sportsground. Find it at 46A Devon Road, with playground access from Forbes Grove.

Leads and the off-lead area

Merri-bek City Council lets dogs off lead within the reserve's designated area. Keep them off the sportsground while organised sport is on, and at least 15 metres from the playground.

The walk

The circuit is a paved, accessible path past the sportsground, a nature play space and outdoor gym stations. It is short and flat, good for a quick daily lap.

Water and shade

There is a drinking fountain near the circuit and playground, and bins around the grounds. Shade is limited to a few mature trees and a shelter with a barbecue and picnic table.

Free street parking is right beside the reserve.

When to go

With little shade, summer walks are best early or late. The fence makes it a good spot for dogs still working on recall, as long as the field is free of games.
