K W Joyce Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

K W Joyce Reserve is a large open oval on Watsons Road in Pascoe Vale, run by Merri-bek City Council. The one thing to get right before you go: off-leash here is time-limited, so your visit has to line up with the windows.

The rules. As of the July 2025 council order, this is an off-leash area only before 9:00am and after 5:00pm. Outside those windows the reserve is on-leash. Dogs must stay under effective control, on a lead within 15 metres of playgrounds, barbecues and organised sport, and off the oval entirely when a match is on. Dogs are not permitted in the playground or the creek area.

What's there. A big grassy oval for running, though it is not fully fenced, plus a perimeter path and lighting that makes the early and late off-leash windows workable in winter. Facilities on the field itself are limited, so bring your own water bowl and waste bags.

Getting there. Street parking runs along Watsons Road and the nearby streets. It is within walking distance of Pascoe Vale Station on the Craigieburn line, with local buses along Cumberland Road and Boundary Road.

When to go. The oval is busiest right before 9:00am and just after 5:00pm, since those are the only off-leash times. Weekday afternoons are quieter but on-leash only. Check the sporting schedule before a weekend run.
