Ferrovia Cafe

Ferrovia is a small Italian cafe on Railway Parade in Pascoe Vale, directly opposite the train station, known for proper espresso and handmade pasta from a kitchen with real cooking behind it. The cafe is narrow, so with a dog you are looking at the outdoor tables.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas: a few small tables out front for people-watching, and a sheltered open-roofed courtyard at the rear that suits dogs well. The interior is tight, so dogs stay outside. Staff are friendly and water can usually be provided on request, but bring a bowl to be safe.

Good to know. This is rustic Italian rather than standard cafe fare, co-owned by chef Riccardo Momesso, with the coffee consistently praised. Hours are Tuesday to Friday 7am to 2pm and Saturday from 8am, closed Sunday and Monday, so check the day before you plan a visit.

Getting there. It sits opposite Pascoe Vale Station on the Craigieburn line. Free street parking runs along Railway Parade and the nearby streets, though it fills at busy times. Access from street to outdoor seating is flat and easy.

Nearby with the dogs. K W Joyce Reserve and Gavan Park are close by for a walk, and the station-side stretch of Railway Parade is pleasant on foot before or after coffee.
