Sewell Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Sewell Reserve's off-leash area in Glenroy is a fully fenced, modern dog park on Saffron Street, open 24/7 with varied ground textures rather than flat grass alone, and an easy walk from Glenroy Station.

The dog setup

The area is fully enclosed, but dogs still need to be under effective voice or visual control at all times. Keep dogs on-lead within 15 metres of the playground and any fenced sporting ground, and always carry a lead even though the park itself is off-leash. Pick up after your dog; bins are provided. New drinking fountains include built-in dog bowls, and there are picnic tables and benches for owners. The wider reserve has a playground, barbecue areas and a basketball court, so it doubles as a family stop, not just a dog park.

Max: the fencing is solid, but do not switch off. Voice control still applies once you are inside, and that 15 metre buffer near the playground and sports ground is worth respecting even when the gate is shut behind you.

Worth knowing

Weekday mornings before 8.30am and evenings after 4.30pm draw the regulars, and weekends get busy mid-to-late morning. For a quieter run, aim for mid-morning on a weekday. The full fencing makes it a safer bet than an open reserve if your dog is boisterous around others during busy periods.

The park is on Saffron Street, Glenroy, with on-site parking. It is an easy walk from Glenroy Station on the Craigieburn line, and local Glenroy bus stops are close by too.

Kingsford Smith Ulm Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is Glenroy's other off-leash option, Moomba Park Dog park at Fawkner is the closest option to the north, and Ferrovia Cafe in Pascoe Vale is a solid coffee stop on the way through.
