st.derby

st.derby is a well-loved brunch cafe at 161 Derby Street, Pascoe Vale, on the corner of Derby and Windsor, with a local following built on coffee and in-house sweets. For dog owners, the outdoor footpath tables out front are the spot, and the leafy residential streets around it make the walk there part of the point.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating on the footpath; inside is people only, so plan around a table out front. Staff are friendly toward visiting dogs and water can usually be provided, though it is worth packing your own bowl to be certain on warmer mornings.

Worth knowing

The kitchen leans generous: corn fritters, eggs benedict, ricotta pancakes and brekky rolls, with giant cookies and freshly baked treats at the counter, and coffee sourced through Roasting Warehouse. It trades 6:30am to 4pm on weekdays and 7:30am to 3pm on weekends, and while the weekend brunch line is real, the roomy sidewalk seating absorbs it better than most.

Getting there and parking

Free street parking is available on Derby Street and the surrounding residential streets, and local buses run along Cumberland Road a short walk away.

Close by with the dogs

Austin Crescent Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is the closest off-lead run, following the Westbreen Creek linear trail, and Hallam Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is the quiet neighbourhood alternative. For the next coffee, Parkstone in Pascoe Vale South keeps the streak going.
