Randell Walk

The Randell Walk is a gentle heritage stroll through Mannum, tracing the story of river pioneer Captain William Randell along the Murray. It follows public footpaths, so dogs walk it on a lead.

The walk

Stops include the 1854 woolshed, early Randell family homes and lookouts over the river and the Herman L Gass Bird Sanctuary. Surfaces are concrete footpath, asphalt, including the old Goat Track, and boardwalk.

It is flat and paved, which makes it an easy one for older dogs.

Lead rules

Mid Murray Council's dog by-law applies. Keep your dog on a lead and under effective control, as there is no off-lead area on the trail.

Getting started

Park near the Mannum Visitor Information Centre or in the main street bays. There are street bins in town and some shade from street trees, but fountains are sparse, so carry water and a bowl.

Make a day of it

Let your dog off at the fenced Mannum Dog Exercise Reserve on Hardy Street, then stop at Elly Jayne at Big 4 Mannum.

Street trees give only patchy shade, so mild days or early starts suit it best in summer.
