Warrawee Park Oval

Warrawee Park Oval sits on Drummond Street in Oakleigh, just north of Oakleigh South, and it suits a calm on-lead walk rather than a run. The City of Monash has not made it an off-leash area, so the lead stays on the whole way round.

The walk

A flat, sealed path circles the oval, with mature trees along the edge giving good shade on warm days. You pass a historic grandstand overlooking the ground and a children's playspace with a small maze.

Grass and seating under the trees make it easy to stop for a breather. Bins sit around the pavilion and along the track.

Lead rules

Keep dogs on lead, and off the playing surface whenever training or a game is on. Give the playspace a wide berth too.

Dog water is not something to count on here, so bring a bottle and bowl. There is parking on site and in the surrounding streets.

Make a day of it

For off-lead time afterwards, Mavis Hutter Reserve Dog Off Leash Area and Davies Reserve Dog Off Leash Area are both close by.

When to go

Locals like it for being quieter than the bigger parks in the area. The flat, shaded loop suits older dogs, and it pays to check for organised sport before you arrive.
