Buckland Hill

Buckland Hill rises between the Swan River and the Indian Ocean in Mosman Park, and its reserve paths deliver views of both. Dogs are welcome on lead, with WWII history along the way.

Lead rules

The Town of Mosman Park designates the reserve as an on-lead area. An off-lead proposal has been out for community consultation, so treat it as on lead until the council says otherwise.

For off-lead play, the council points to Rope Works Park and Stringfellow Park instead.

The walk

The reserve runs about 1.73 km, with sealed paths and compacted limestone tracks you can link into loops of your own. The reserve also holds remnants of the WWII Leighton Battery.

Shade varies from section to section and parking is available. Carry water for the dog.

Nearby, the Leighton Beach Dog Exercise Area is the place for a run and a swim, and Phyl & Tom does the coffee.

When to go

Early morning, before the sun hits the exposed hilltop. Sunset is the other good window for the ocean view.
