The Buderim-Palmwoods Heritage Trail Bushland Park is a shaded 4 kilometre return gravel walk near Mons that follows the old Buderim-Palmwoods tramway line, with historical plaques marking the route along the way.

The rules: Dogs must be kept on a leash for the entire walk. This is a bushland reserve, and Sunshine Coast Council updated its dog rules for reserves and environment areas from 3 July 2026, so it is worth checking current on-leash signage at the trailhead before you set off. Pick up and bin any waste.

What's there: The gravel path is flat with a gentle gradient and has a wheelchair-friendly ramp at the start, plus occasional benches. There are no toilets or water taps on the trail, so bring your own water and a bowl for your dog.

Getting there: The trailhead and a small grassed parking area are at the corner of Mons Road and Telco Road. There is no public transport stop right at the trailhead, so a car is the easiest way in, and the car park is modest in size.

The bushland here has paralysis ticks about, so give your dog a once-over after the walk, especially around the ears and paws.

Go early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat, since parts of the track catch full sun. It is a quieter, shorter alternative to the nearby Tramway Walk section, good for an easy leg-stretch rather than a big outing.
