Vandys Cafe

Vandys Cafe is a retro-styled espresso bar at 116 Burnett Street in the middle of Buderim village, and it has a reputation as the most dog-welcoming stop on the hill. It pours Campos coffee, keeps a labelled container of dog treats by the counter, and opens its undercover outdoor and footpath seating to dogs alongside their owners seven days a week.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you in the covered outdoor and footpath tables along Burnett Street, with water bowls out and a container of treats marked for the dogs, and staff are quick to hand out extras. The strip is compact and friendly, so a settled dog beside the table is very much part of the scene here. Arrive early if you want the pick of the undercover spots, especially on a Saturday when live music draws a crowd.

The vibe and the menu

The room is retro and old-school, the Campos coffee is consistently well reviewed, and the menu keeps it simple with breakfast plates, brunch bites, toasties and pastries. Hours are early: 5:30am to midday Monday to Friday, 6am to midday on weekends, so this is a genuine first-thing coffee run rather than a lunch destination. Live acoustic music often fills Saturday mornings from around 9am.

Getting there and parking

Burnett Street is the village main drag. Street parking runs along the strip and fills through the morning, with public parking behind the main street shops if the frontage is full. The village is walkable end to end, so most errands pair naturally with a stop here.

Pair it with

Lions Park near the roundabout has grass, BBQs and toilets for a post-coffee wander, and the Tramway Track off Mons Road is a 1.8km one-way leashed bush walk. For off-lead time, Elizabeth Daniels Park Fenced Dog Park on Mooloolaba Road runs double-gated, separated areas for big and small dogs. Note that Sunshine Coast Council prohibits dogs in conservation reserves, so Buderim Forest Park is a no-dogs walk.
